Out of the gate!

Rule number one: don’t publish anything, if you don’t have something to say.

While this isn’t necessarily a guiding principle in my life, it is the reason why I have never attempted to write a book. It’s also the reason why I’ve been putting off publishing this inaugural post: I’m not quite sure where to begin.

I’ve felt that this blog (as with this site, in general) should be an extension of my personal and professional ministry, so it stands to reason that the subject matter would be about worship. I also have had the desire to explore and analyze what lies at the crossroads of ritual and creativity, so I’m sure that will happen eventually. Like any good academic, however, I would be remiss if the conversation didn’t start with the development of a proper analytical framework.

(Spoiler alert: I like to use big words from time to time. Be prepared!)

In short, I will attempt to define worship, and will then use that as a springboard for whatever comes next.

I’ll also probably comment on the various musings I have about leading worship, whether they be my own experiences or general observations.... everything, from the practical to the spiritual. Further, I will also likely post album reviews of new and noteworthy worship music, and I’ll try to be as honest as possible about them (good or bad).

In any case, I hope you enjoy my ramblings. I’ll try not to bore you. :)
